While at Strongmind, I was tasked with improving the user experience for the enrollment process. Originally it did the job, however, as a new hire with a fresh perspective, I was able to go through the enrollment process as if I was a parent signing up their student for the first time. I was able to objectively go through the entire process and take notes on what was working and what needed improvements. I then presented my feedback to the UX engineer I was shadowing as well as our project manager.
Originally, providing a student's past education history was a confusing process, as the user answered yes or no to questions, additional questions would appear at the end of the form. While these questions were necessary, their proximity to it's related field was too far so users were answering a question for one topic, going to an entirely different topic, and then back to the original topic. My approach to this was utalizing a card that would appear based on the user's response. By doing this, all related questions would be better orgonized as well as visually identify to the user that these extra questions are related to the original question.
I also wanted to ensure that questions were organized by topic as well as had a heading to indicate to the user that this section of questions is a new topic.
